Using public transportation is a great way to save money while traveling. Figuring out how the public transportation works and the most economical way to use it can cause a bit of stress. This article dives specifically into how to get around Inverness, Scotland using public transportation.
After a significant amount of research, I found Stagecoach to be the cheapest and best way to travel around Inverness and the surrounding areas.
Stagecoach has a few options that might work for you and your travel buddies.

Stagecoach Ticket Options
This bus pass has unlimited use for 7 days and ranges from £13.90 to £34.90 depending on the zone’s you would like to travel in. Below is the map of the zones. There is also an option for a month-long pass that ranges from £43.30 pounds to £128.70 pounds.
If you select zone 1, it just covers the zone 1 area. When you buy tickets for zone 2, it covers the zone 2 area AND the zone 1 area. If you select zone 3, it covers zone 3 area AND the zone 2 area AND the zone 1 area. You get the idea.
What if you’re only going to be in Inverness for a couple of days?
This ticket works similarly to the 7 day pass when it comes to the zones, but it is just for one day. Prices range from £4.60 to £17.20 depending on the zone you select.
Is there an option for groups?
This group pass follows the same zones, but gives unlimited rides for up to 5 people for one day. If you are traveling with a group, this group bus pass is an excellent option. Prices range from £11.60 to £42.70.
These buses run pretty consistently, and will take you to popular places like the Culloden Battlefield, Inverness Botanical Gardens, Nairn Beach, Clootie Well, Fort George, and so many others. Stagecoach buses are an excellent way to get around Inverness, Scotland using public transportation.

To buy the ticket go to https://www.stagecoachbus.com/ or download the stagecoach app. Once you purchase the desired ticket, you will be able to activate it in the app. Once activated you will show the bus driver the ticket.

The Scot Rail
Another form of public transportation around Inverness, Scotland is the Scot Rail. The Scot Rail is another great option for getting around and tends to be a little bit faster than the bus, but it is more expensive than the Stagecoach buses.
